NYALT Episode 106 – Leadership Under Fire
We enjoyed this incredible multimedia event with award winning author Robin Bartlett (CMC 1967) as he recounts leading a group of thirty young soldiers in the jungles of Vietnam.
Bartlett takes the audience back in time to the turbulent late 1960s. He describes graduating from college life at Claremont McKenna College in California to train at Army Airborne and Ranger schools. He explains what it was like for a 22-year-old to take command of a group of young men whose lives depended upon his abilities and leadership. His first-person narrative expresses the horror, anguish and sometimes illogical humor of warfare.
Many of us have led teams of people through difficult situations. Many of us make decisions with limited information, or when our competitors have an informational advantage. Many of us work on high stakes deals with binary outcomes. Robin Bartlett guides us on leadership lessons learned in the fog of war.
“Robin Bartlett’s superb memoir gives an understanding of the Vietnam War and the profound and sometimes searing experiences of the American soldiers who fought it.” – – H.R. McMaster, General USA Ret, Former National Security Advisor of the United States. Learn more about Robin here.
